Weekend Where-abouts and Where-to's!

Hey there!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

This weekend I was pretty busy getting ready for my vacation. So, I was running around getting last minute stuff and packing! While shopping, I brought my dad into Vineyard Vines to check out a few things and naturally, my dad walked out with a shopping bag full of clothes! Anyway, tomorrow I am leaving for a week to go spend some time with my family at our vacation home up north. Even though it's in the middle of no where we usually find plenty to do! We go swimming in the lake, take a few day trips, visit friends and this week the county fair is in so we will be spending a lot of time there! A few of our friends participate in the demolition derbies at night so we will be there cheering them on! (I sound so country don't I?) Don't worry though, I packed plenty of VV clothes to keep the prep alive!

Last night I went out to a bar with a few friends and enjoyed a couple of drinks, nothing too crazy! I love casual nights out with friends! Even though the night was fairly tamed, I am exhausted! Plus, I have to wake up early to hit the road! Definitely stopping for bagels and Starbucks before we head north!

Also, this weekend my mom and dad stopped at the local farmers market just down the block from my house and picked up some delicious fresh produce, along with some other treats, including these unique sunflowers which are called Teddybear Sunflowers!

Aren't they beautiful!

Unfortunately, since I am going to be away, I don't think you preps will be hearing from me until next Sunday or Monday. So, hang in there and when I'm back I will have plenty of updates and plenty more prep to share!

Have a great week!

Frenzy Friday!

Hi preps!

Today I worked the morning shift at VV so I've been up since about 7 and needless to say, the day is beginning to wear on me! We were busy at work redecorating! Me and my manager put our creative skills together to move around some things and to add a few new nautical decorations! It was a very exciting day at the store between redecorating, being asked to take control of the Facebook page for the store and getting the freebies in for customers! Of course I took a few goodies for myself! We got whale stickers, bracelets, bottle openers, temporary tattoos and several other fun things!

Since I was on a cleaning/redecorating binge from work I decided to continue at home by reorganizing my room. Let me tell you, cleaning my room is always a task and a half! So by frenzy Friday, I mean a cleaning frenzy!!

Now that I can relax a little before this evenings festivities, I wanted to share a website that a viewer sent in! Prepster Pineapple is a retail website that sells adorable t-shirts and polos with a preppy pineapple logo! What makes this logo even more special is that that owner's daughter inspired the unique pineapple!

How cute is this?

I will definitely be purchasing one of these fun tees!

What do you guys think of this unique and most importantly, preppy pineapple?

What to Wear Wednesday!

Hey Preppies!

Even though summer is halfway over, your summer wardrobe can just get fired up! Lately I've been all about statement pieces! Unfortunately, many statement and/or bulky pieces tend to be expensive. However, after doing some research I've found a few pieces that won't break your wallet!

Francesca's Collections sell this set of 4 rings for $16.00! You can purchase online or go to their website to find a store near you!
These rings are perfect for a more tamed statement, only showing a little vibrance on your fingers! Not only are they in style for their vivacious color, but also because they are stackable so you can wear them all at one or one by itself! These rings are perfect for livening up any outfit! They're even great to accessorize a bathing suit!

Bauble Bar sells this gorgeous bulky necklace for $44.00. I know that seems a little pricey but, when you create an account you receive $10.00 off! See, I can always find you a deal!
This necklace is a fabulous accessory for perhaps a white dress for a more formal occasion, or even with a pair of bermudas and a tank! The great thing about many bulky pieces if that they can be versatile as long as you are daring enough to make a statement with them!

Just last night I went on my best friend date with Chris for sushi and I had on jeans, a coral chiffon top from Forever 21, and this bulky number:

I bought this piece a while ago from Francesca's Collections for only $20! I get so many compliments on this necklace especially for its sea shells intertwined throughout. The gold and coral colors compliment each other perfectly! See, even for a casual dinner out, a statement piece like this is sure to be a hit!

Finally, what about these adorable anchor cuffs from The Pink Pineapple?

What better way to dress up any outfit than with these cuffs? They are great for a day out shopping, a night out, a trip to Starbucks or even just a chill out day with friends! Plus, the anchors are not only exceptionally preppy, but also perfectly nautical for the season! Ugh, love it!

What do you guys think of these pieces? Do you have any go-to statement pieces? Share them with us!

Tequila Tuesday!

Hey there!

I just got home from a long day at my internship and what wore me out even more was when I realized it's only Tuesday! But preppies...

"Keep calm and have a cocktail"

It's 5 o'clock by me so it's officially happy hour!

During the summer months I love fruity drinks. Usually my go to is a Malibu Bay Breeze but lately I've been on a tequila kick! I've been trying new recipes, experimenting with tequila. The other day my sister made me a Tequila Sunrise and it was delish! So, I thought I would share a Tequila Sunrise recipe with you!

Ingredients

  • 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger tequila
  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • ice cubes
  • 1/2 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger grenadine syrup
  • 1 slice orange, for garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish

Directions

  1. Stir or shake together tequila and orange juice. Fill a chilled 12 ounce glass with ice cubes; pour in orange juice mixture. Slowly pour in the grenadine, and allow it to settle to the bottom of the glass (be patient). Garnish with a slice of orange, and a maraschino cherry.

See, the coloration makes the drink look like a sunrise (hence the name)!

While you're sipping on your lovely Tequila Sunrise, enjoy a little Kenny live from Red Rock...

ahhh time to relax!

Getting back on track: the school track!

Back to being the practical prepster,

As much as a hate to admit it, summer is halfway through which means that the preparations for school begin to come to mind. The first thing I usually purchase is my academic agenda. I have always gone with the Lilly Pocket agenda however, this year I am going to change it up! I found a company called May Books which creates monogramed agendas, notebooks, meal planners, etc. with preppy patterns and creative writing styles to monogram with.

This weekend I came across their website and saw they were having a 50% off sale! Of course any practical prepster can't resist a sale! So, the agendas which are typically $20, I got for $10! The agendas have a month as well as a weekly calendar layout and are made with recycled and eco-friendly products so not only are they practical, preppy and stylish, they are safe for the environment!

This is one of the preppy patterns that I opted for!

This gives you an idea of just some of the many patterns and options that May Books has to offer!
In just 4 easy steps you can have your school agenda ready to go!

Check out this website and start creating your preppy style for the upcoming school year!

Also, for this weekend only, use the promo code: GAA to receive 50% off your entire order at checkout!

Enjoy!!

Practically yours,
The Practical Prepster

I'm back!!!!

Well, I’m back.

I don’t know what excuse I have for my lack to commitment other than I have been extremely busy with work (for those of you who have forgotten, at Vineyard Vines) and with my internship at UBS Financial. Let’s put that aside and start fresh.
I want to continue to help you prepsters expand the practicality of your preppy horizons. However, I don’t necessarily want to stick to the weekly regiment I had us on before. Instead, I am going to blog about whatever I feel is necessary for us prepsters to know and not necessarily relevant to an assigned theme. As long as I still have some faithful followers, I will continue to blog and to share my practical finds with you!

Just a few updates since it  has been a while:

Like I mentioned earlier, work has pretty much consumed my life. However, I absolutely love working at Vineyard Vines! My co-workers are now some of my closets friends!  Here is a picture of me and a few of my co-worker out on the town!!
Here we all are!

Me and the lovely Vineyard ladies at a co-workers party!

Just goofing off at work! This picture made it to the Vineyard Vines blog!

Who doesn't love a Vineyard Vines tie? I know I do!

I had a blacklight/neon themed party at my house a few weeks ago and all of my co-workers came! We had a blast! Check out the adorable Vineyard Vines inspired cupcakes that a woman whose children I babysit for made for the party!
How cute are these?!

Take a look at her blog as well!

Another update, I went on a little weekend getaway with my sister and best friend Chris. We took a road trip to my house upstate for some outdoor fun! We gallivanted the countryside and enjoyed the fresh, open air.
Me and Chris up at the lake by my house!

Me and Chris being chauffeured around by my sister!
Here, we were heading to a motocross event!

 The beautiful country sunset!

Last week my Aunt, Uncle and cousin Kenny were in from Kentucky for their annual summer vacation. Kenny turned 21 while he was here so we had a huge bash for him at my house. The theme was boobs and beer (perhaps not the classiest theme, especially for a prepster) but no one said we can’t cut loose every now and then! The same lady who made my Vineyard Vines inspired cupcakes made these creative wonders as well!
These are the "boobs and beer" cupcakes!

Me and the birthday boy!

More recently, I went to my future Aunt Kerri’s bridal shower which was definitely entertaining! We had a nice day spent with family.

Here is me, the bride-to-be and my sister, Jane!

Last night, my sister, best friend Chris and my other friend Kevin had the opportunity to go to the Mets-Dodgers game at the new Citi Field. We had seats right behind home plate!! As if that wasn’t good enough, the band Daughtry performed after the game! Despite the rain, it was a fun evening spent with great friends!
Chris, Me and Kevin at the game!

A few other photo updates:

Me and Chris on the 4th of July, getting ready for the celebration!

Me and another friend Jamie getting ready to watch the fireworks!

These were the fireworks we had to set off!
Incase you couldn't already tell, we had quite the display!

Well I suppose that vaguely but rapidly brings you guys up to date! Anyway, lets move on to the preppier things in life! Again, I apologize for falling off the face of the planet for a while! Hopefully you can forgive me!

So, here we go again! Yay!

Preppily yours,
The Practical Prepster
